All three Yorke Peninsula teams entered in the 2012 Country Carnival Cricket, held in Adelaide last week, tasted victory.
spCountryCricket1Weetulta had to wait until the final day when it defeated cross-leg rivals Bute by 78 runs, while Stansbury, after a slow start, had a pair of victories over Morphett Vale and Mundulla to finish the week.

Bute, courtesy of a century from Alistair Michael and 91 and six wickets from Brad Muster, won its Wednesday game against Quorn.

Weetulta ran into former Australia Test leg spinner Peter Sleep on the opening day.

Saxon Kerley offered some resistance in both innings.

Very occasional bowler Craig “Charlie” Shean rolled his arm over and claimed a prized hat-trick.

The Weetulta side again struggled on day two, enduring a second outright loss.

Perhaps the most consistent was Matt Ryan with a pair of half centuries, including an unbeaten 57 in Friday’s win.

For Bute, Paul Patterson started with 56 on day one, while the Wehr cousins Stewie (82) and Anthony (31) led the way with the willow.

Randall Cock grabbed a bag of five wickets in the innings against Penola.

Stansbury started to find some form by Wednesday, with James Murdoch collecting 5/24 and Tom Rankine making a 50.
