MAN DROWNS AT DALY HEAD

THE tightknit Marion Bay and Yorke Penin­sula surfing communities are in shock, mourning the tragic death of one of their own.

Well-known surfing identity Robert “Billy” Baxter drowned while stand up paddle boarding with a group of fellow surfers at Salmon Hole, part of the Daly Head surfing reserve, yesterday (Monday).

“Conditions were ideal with only medium waves when other surfers noticed him in the water unresponsive,” Yorke­town Brevet Sergeant Mark Stuart said.
