Have your say on electricity prices

SA Power Networks has released a consultation paper seeking public feedback about proposed changes to the way electricity network tariffs are structured.

“Apart from our largest business customers, tariffs for most customers are currently based on electricity consumption on an accumulation basis,” SA Power Networks spokesperson Paul Roberts said.

“In response to rule changes proposed by the federal and state governments and the Australian Energy Market Commission, we are proposing to shift to demand tariffs based on a mix of a customer’s energy consumption and their peak demand requirements, which are the main driver of network costs,” Mr Robert said.
