Mystery, thrills and loads of drama, The Sinner had me hooked from the start.
To be completely honest I absolutely devoured the first season one lazy Sunday, just wanting more after each episode.
For those who haven’t seen the program, The Sinner is an American crime drama television series based on the novel of the same name by Petra Hammesfahr.
A young, seemingly-normal mother murders a man in a horrific act of violence on the beach, for no apparent reason, in front of her husband and toddler son I might add.
The investigator on the case becomes obsessed and is determined to dig into the woman’s past to figure out why she committed the crime.
Jessica Biel plays the young mother Cora and her performance is epic. It was no surprise she received Golden Globe nominations.
But Cora’s fate by the end of season one seems sealed, so how could she possibly return in future episodes and, if she doesn’t, will the show be the same?
Rumour has it Biel will play more of a producer role, but here’s hoping she still makes an appearance.
Season two might see us stepping into the life of Detective Harry Ambrose, played by actor Bill Pullman, just that bit more.
In season one we saw a man with underlying relationship issues who unhealthily buried himself in his work.
Season one ended with Ambrose looking down at his bruised fingernails, apparently wanting to confront his own demons.
We can only speculate what season two has in store, but if it’s anything like season one I think we are in for a wild ride.
Fingers crossed we won’t be disappointed.
