Barunga West floats tourism ideas

SINKING a navy ship off Port Broughton as a diving attraction is one of several tourism ideas being floated by Barunga West Council.

CEO Andrew Cole has been investigating the process and raised it during a panel discussion at Yorke Peninsula Tourism’s Meet the Minister event last month.

“We are floating the idea that if the federal government offers a navy ship for decommissioning and sinking, would the state government consider sinking it off Port Broughton?” Mr Cole said.
