Pledge for better farm protections

SA-BEST has pledged to hand farmers greater protection from competing land uses, such as mining, if the party is in a balance-of-power situation after the state election.

Candidate for Narungga Sam Davies said adjoining landowners should be able to object to potential mining operations, not just those directly impacted.

“We can successfully mine in many areas further north in our arid environment, but we can’t farm there,” he said.
