Fishers: Reopen Wallaroo jetty

WALLAROO jetty sections being frequently closed have raised questions amongst fishers.

Copper Coast Council received a letter from Gianni Turci asking for support in lobbying Flinders Ports, which controls the facility, to open the jetty more often.

“I understand there is always going to be idiot fishermen (who) go down the end with a cigarette and other fools who have made a fire,” he wrote.

I too want to see it reopened. I don't go there unless i can fish the commercial section. Needless to say it has been a long time since I have seen it opened. I have made the trip before only to find out someone started a fire the day before and it is closed. That sucks and I understand their position, but surely the council can pay for a patrol on weekend and public holiday openings??????
