Locals fight for the bight

FORMBY Bay Environmental Action Group and Daly Head Surfing Reserve volunteers are joining other coastal communities across the state to again voice their opposition to deep-sea drilling in the Great Australian Bight.

“After the great response to our Hands Across the Sand campaign in May we’ve decide to hold free screenings of the documentary Jeedara, produced by the Great Australian Bight Alliance,” spokesperson Jason Swales said.

For Operation Jeedara, launched in 2016, the Sea Shepherd vessel Steve Irwin sailed into the heart of the Great Australian Bight to document the fragile beauty of the region and showcase what would be lost if oil companies were allowed to drill there.
