Most freezing start to winter in years

YORKE Peninsula has experienced its chilliest start to winter in decades.

The coldest spell was from Wed­nes­day, May 31, to Saturday, June 3, when Snowtown experienced five consecutive nights below zero degrees celsius for the first time in more than 100 years.

Kadina broke a 60-year record with four nights below zero.
