LIFE is fragile and can change in the blink of an eye.
egkidney1No one appreciates this more than Bob Rudiger, of Ardrossan, who has been given a second chance at life after a kidney transplant late last year.

This week, February 19-26, is DonateLife Week and Bob happily supports the call for people to register as organ donors.

Before his transplant Bob was required to have dialysis three times a week, each session taking five hours, a drain on him and his wife Cheryl.

“It (dialysis) takes your life away because you can’t miss it and someone had to drive me to Modbury because I couldn’t drive,” he said.

“It slowed me up, I was tired all the time, lethargic, would get confused and add that with depression and it is a real cocktail.”

Now, Bob has been given a new lease on life and is healthy enough to fly to Queensland in June to walk his goddaughter down the aisle in her wedding.
