MARION Bay residents could be without television unless they take steps to implement digital television before the analogue switch-off next year.
The re-transmission tower currently broadcasting analogue television services to the town will cease operation by the second half of 2013.

A decision has been made by the District Council of Yorke Peninsula, after consultation with the community, not to convert the Marion Bay analogue self-help re-transmission tower to a digital format.

“Without any other funding available it was difficult for council to justify paying more than $100,000 to convert the tower for digital transmission, especially when other subsidies are available for households to convert,” director corporate and community services Alan Rushbrook explained.

“On top of that there would be ongoing maintenance costs, and the complexities of dealing with the special requirements needed to provide a digital service to Marion Bay.”
