FISHERMAN’S Bay crown land shack owners claim the state government is trying to force them out by jacking up lease fees by more than 300 per cent.
egFishermanShack owners on Whiting Road who have received their three-yearly revaluation of tenure are contemplating knocking down their shacks amid fears they won’t be able to afford the increases.

For retired pensioner Cyril Wright a lease fee increase from $1500 to $4800 per annum could spell the end of his holiday shack.

“I personally think they have put the prices up because they don’t want us here and have a future plan for the land,” Mr Wright said.

“As property values are based on square metre values we have not seen anywhere in Fisherman’s Bay or South Australia increasing more than 300 per cent.”
