THE District Council of Yorke Peninsula has still not agreed to reduce the speed limit along four of its roads from 110km/h to the new state default of 100km/h.
This is despite a special presentation by Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure representatives at council’s meeting last Wednesday, seeking its support.

The presentation, by DPTI director road and traffic management Paul Gelston and planning unit manager northern and western region Peter Tan, was prompted by council’s decision to firmly reject the change and keep its roads at 110km/h.

Mr Gelston outlined the government’s Road Safety Strategy 2020 program, and the minister’s request the speed limit on the remaining four DCYP roads be reduced.

Mr Gelston said council’s support for the default limit would mean consistency across the peninsula, with roads within the District Council of Copper Coast area already changed to 100km/h.
