Aussies lose $340million to scammers

AUSTRALIANS lost more money to scammers in 2017 than any year since the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission began reporting about scam activity.

More than 200,000 reports were submitted to the ACCC Australian Cybercrime Online Reporting Network and other federal and state-based government agencies last year, according to the ACCC’s ninth Targeting Scams report.

This is the first time reported losses to scams have totaled more than $300million, demonstrating their increasing impact.
