IN the words of Henry Adams, “A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops”.
Frank Camporeale has certainly affected eternity for many local students and is retiring after teaching for 38 years at Moonta Area School.
Frank, his wife Laura and family transferred from Loxton North in 1974, intending to stay for four or five years, but the area quickly grew on them.
“We arrived when Moonta Primary School and Moonta High School were separate entities, and one of my career highlights was being here during the establishment of the area school; that was a good move for the community,” Frank said.
“The kids were already literally just going through the door from one school to the other anyway.”
Frank has taught many subjects and year levels from reception to year 10, but said he prefers middle primary.
“The students still have a freshness and keenness about them that keeps me going and makes teaching more of a challenge,” he said.
He has enjoyed his involvement in the school choir, which former principal Sharron Ward got off the ground.
