Producer Martin Collins (middle), with farm manager Nathan Phasey and contractor Eric Storey, has made a start on harvest at Roger’s Corner near Yorketown.

Harvest begins on lower YP

HARVEST has begun on some parts of lower Yorke Peninsula, with early starters out in the paddocks.

Lower-than-average September rainfall, in the 10th percentile in most cropping regions, is expected to contribute to a decrease in cropping production this year.

Yorketown producer Martin Collins has about 3500 hectares to reap and started on lentils on Sunday, October 28, the crops having been desiccated around a week earlier.
