THE Australian Year of the Farmer is all about celebrating the vital contribution farmers make to the Australian economy and community.
It aims to give due recognition to the men and women whose labours feed, clothe and house the population and educate the community about Australian farming.
During the year, events including expos, photo competitions and a travelling road show will be held across the country; the road show will make a stop at the Maitland Show on March 14.
The Yorke Peninsula Country Times will also be recognising the importance of the industry and its large presence in the area.
From cropping and livestock to other forms of farming, we will be telling the stories of different farmers and their practices as well as looking at issues facing modern agriculture and providing seasonal and up-to-date information.
