Strong community suport for Marion Bay boat ramp propsal

MARION Bay’s growing popularity as a launching pad for recreational fishers has many locals eager for the proposed upgrade of the town’s boat ramp to move forward as soon as possible.

Marion Bay Progress Association representatives Josh Harkin and Paul Hanna said Yorke Peninsula Council’s preferred option for the facility’s upgrade, which would include a new boat ramp and enclosed harbour, is gathering widespread community support.

“We are seeing more and more rec fishers come down, particularly when the tuna is running, and in peak periods there could be as many as 100 boats launching each day,” Mr Harkin said.
