Councils to make rate capping opposition official

LOCAL councils are making it clear they oppose the state government’s proposed rate capping legislation.

At a recent Local Government Association of South Australia meeting, attended by more than 200 people, councils were asked to take a formal position on the matter by August 3.

Barunga West and Wakefield Regional Councils have since both formally opposed rate capping. Barunga West Council CEO Andrew Cole said elected members reaffirmed their opposition to the legislation.
