One Australian is diagnosed with cancer approximately every five minutes — the length of an average tea break. The time, effort and generosity of our morning tea hosts will ensure the 27 South Australians diagnosed with cancer every day receive information and support when they need it most.
The money raised through the simple act of having a cuppa will make a huge difference and allow us to continue to fund vital research, prevention, advocacy and support programs which change lives.
In the past year alone, thanks to the generous support of the SA community, we could protect more than 110,000 SA children through our SunSmart Schools Program, provide more than 30,500 nights of accommodation to those travelling to Adelaide for treatment, and provide more than 6400 people with information and support from a Cancer Council Nurse through Cancer Council 13 11 20. Because of our wonderful hosts and their guests, we can continue providing these services for years to come.
This year thousands of people showed their generosity with 143 events being held throughout the Yorke and Mid North region. On behalf of everyone at Cancer Council SA, I thank all those who enjoyed a cuppa for a cause and supported those impacted by cancer in their community.
Every minute, every hour, every day, South Australians are impacted by cancer. Thank you for making sure they don’t have to face their diagnosis alone.
