Jones and Murphy produce strong state performances

South Australia came from behind deep in the last quarter to defeat Western Australia in the opening 2018 national under 16 football championships round.

Although not named in the best players, Bute lad Lachlan Jones and Broughton-Mundoora senior colts 2017 premiership player Jamison Murphy played significant roles in SA’s 11.3 (69) to 9.12 (66).

After the late withdrawal of Luke Pedler because of a groin injury, Murphy was moved from half back into the midfield, and Jones played as a versatile defender.
