Anzac essay remembers local WWI recruits

AN essay about World War I soldiers, brothers Frantz and Claude Docking, who enlisted together at Kadina and later killed in France by the same shell, has earned its author Lila Weidenbach an overseas study tour.

Lila is a student at Kildare College, Holden Hill, and is one of 14 students and two teachers selected statewide for the Premier’s Anzac Spirit School Prize, a fully funded 14-day study tour to Vietnam in October.

Frantz, Claude and their 12 siblings were the children of Marie Clara (nee Weidenbach) and James Docking, and cousins to Lila’s great-grandfather Gus Weidenbach.
