FARMERS are the big winners after Yorke Peninsula Council voted against increasing primary production rates by an average of 11.8 per cent at last Wednesday night’s meeting.

Councillors instead approved an average rise of 5.8 per cent whilst the proposed 4.2 per cent increase for residential rates re­mained unchanged.

However, the decision has left council with $338,000 less than it had budgeted for in the next financial year.
