Your View: WMBC rumours

THE Wallaroo Mines Bowling Club board wishes to inform the public any persistent rumours circulating that our club is closing its doors are, in fact, incorrect.

It is a fact the club is in a very financial position and will still be here long into the future.

We currently run bingo every Wednesday evening, and have been doing so for the past 12 months. We run social bowls on weekends, comprising drawn teams on Saturday and scroungers on Sunday.

As a club, it is intended to have a men’s Wednesday pennant, women’s Thursday pennant and two Saturday mixed-gender sides entered for the upcoming season.

The clubhouse is available for hire and has been used for various purposes during the past 12 months. The bar is open on Friday afternoons during winter, as well as weekends for social bowls.

Like all small clubs in the community, we need to grow and we would encourage any person, young or old, to come and visit our club, try lawn bowls in a social atmosphere, or join the club.

We look forward to the future.

Wayne Cooper, president,
Wallaroo Mines Bowling Club
