COMMONLY, farmers can have anything up to six, or even eight, chemicals in a certain tank mix, particularly when about to sow lentils.

Malcolm Johnson, YP AG agriservices agronomist based at Yorketown, said there have been problems with chemical compatibilities when mixing pre-emergent and knockdown chemicals.

“Glyphosate is renowned for having mixing problems, especially when adding hard-to-mix chemicals like triazines, propyzamide and trifluralin to the mix,” he said.
