Beef prices set to simmer nicely

AUSTRALIAN cattle prices have come off the boil but are still expected to simmer nicely during 2018.

Rabobank’s Australian 2018 Beef Cattle Seasonal Outlook forecasts a profitable year for beef producers, anticipating a combination of increased cattle supply, reduced producer demand and weaker global prices to stabilise prices at just above five-year averages.

Slaughter numbers are expected to rise marginally and production will increase by three per cent.
