Your View: Thank you Drakes

IT has been said “when all is said and done, a lot more is said than done.”

I am pleased to say for our local Drakes Supermarkets and their customers the opposite is the case. Every day we read of tragedy, despair and hopelessness.

The Salvation Army works at the front-line day in and day out in our community, trying to make a difference in the lives of ordinary Australians like you and me. They don’t always have the same opportunities we have – like a roof over our head, families who care about us and a purpose in life.

The support and generosity The Salvation Army received during Drakes Supermarkets Christmas Box Appeal was truly amazing. These valuable gifts will be used to support the many programs run to assist the marginalised in the community.

Sadly, the gap between those who have and those who have not continues to widen. Where we can, The Salvation Army stands in that gap bringing hope to those in need.

Thank you to all the customers of Drakes Supermarkets who have generously donated and purchased a Christmas Box during the weeks leading up to Christmas. Your support has brought “hope where it’s needed most to many”.

Mark Foyle, Divisional public relations secretary The Salvation Army
