Biomass project wins government grant

THE company planning to build a biomass energy plant at Ardrossan will use its state funding, announced last week, for a feasibility study.

Yorke Biomass Energy received $476,000 from the government’s Renewable Technology Fund to finance the feasibility assessment of a demonstration project in Ardrossan.

According to YBE, the demonstration project will produce 15MW of electricity and showcase how a straw-burning generator can provide reliable 24/7 renewable power, while also delivering new jobs, new incomes for farmers and lower power prices.
