SA Health defends screening times for bowel cancer

SA HEALTH has responded to claims by Liberal candidate for Narungga Fraser Ellis about long wait times for colonoscopies screening for bowel cancer.

“Once a decision has been made a patient needs a colonoscopy they are put on a waiting list or scheduled to have the procedure performed based on their urgency,” an SA Health spokesperson said.

“Patients are prioritised according to the urgency of their cases, with the current average wait time for an urgent colonoscopy at three and a half months.
