Australian farmers hold sustainability concerns

SUSTAINABILITY is at the forefront of farmers concerns this year, according to the NAB Agri­business Backing Rural Australia – Future-proofing our farmers through sustainability and AgTech solutions survey and report.

Of 739 farmers surveyed, 87 per cent cited soil health as their biggest sustainability concern, followed by water scarcity and energy costs (both 83 per cent).

There is potential for farmers to increase the use of new on-farm technologies to increase yields, minimise waste and improve the bottom line, according to the report.
