Fast forward 16 years and she  and Katie, now a food and hospitality teacher, have been on staff together for the  past two years with Katie pleased to have been able spend that time with her mentor before she retires. School’s out for Mrs Agnew at Yorketown

AS a child Claudia Agnew thought about being a doctor, but it turned out she was squeamish and couldn’t stand the sight of blood.

Her second choice was teaching and she will shut the door of her office at Yorketown Area School for the last time on Friday.

During her 50 years in the profession, she has taught thousands of students across the peninsula.
