Crop estimate revised upwards

SOUTH Australia’s 2017-18 grain harvest estimation has risen from 6.4 million to 6.7 million tonnes, a farm gate value of about $1.7billion.

The most recent PIRSA Crop and Pasture Report stated the number has improved thanks to more rain during July and August.

The estimate is still well below the record-breaking harvest of 2016-17, during which 11.1 million tonnes of grain was reapt, earning about $2.2billion at the farm gate.
