Take care applying herbicide pre-harvest

FARMERS are warned to exercise caution when applying herbicides to this year’s winter crops pre-harvest.

Those applying herbicides late in the season to manage weeds, set seed, or desiccate crops to accelerate or even-up ripening, must follow label recommendations and withholding periods.

GRDC senior manager for crop protection Dr Ken Young said applying herbicides close to harvest increases the possibility of detectable residues in harvested grain.
