Student designs hit home

THE brief given to Yorketown Area School’s years 9 and 10 art class was simple — produce a message which will hit home to encourage the community to prepare for the impending fire danger season.

The idea to involve students in the design process was raised during discussions by Yorke Penin­sula Council staff about the need for new fire-prevention signs.

“We wanted a message that was bold, simple and that hit home, and the four signs we chose to produce certainly met the brief,” fire prevention officer Fraser McEvoy said.
