SA Police Dixieland Band swinging into Wallaroo

ST Mary’s Anglican Church Wallaroo parishioners are delighted to be bringing the toe-tapping, swinging sounds of the South Australia Police Dixieland Band to the Wallaroo Town Hall on Sunday afternoon, September 23.

The Band of the South Australia Police has been entertaining South Australians all over the state since 1884, when Police Commissioner W. J. Peterswald encouraged the Adelaide Metropolitan Foot Police to form a volunteer brass band, the first police band in Australia.

The full band currently comprises 35 musicians, and there are a 22-piece Big Band and medium-sized bands such as the seven-piece Dixieland Band that is performing in Wallaroo.
