Edithburgh CFS sends out SOS

EDITHBURGH Country Fire Service has been struggling to survive since 2014 and is again issuing an urgent call for people to join the brigade.

The station has only six volunteers on the books, and Southern Yorke group officer Steve Cornwell has warned more people need to join or the station will close.

“Each brigade is assessed on its ability to provide standard fire and emergency cover and, with not enough crew to man the appliance currently assigned to the station, questions are being raised as to why the station hasn’t already been closed,” Mr Cornwell said.
