Tax office targeting clothing expenses

THE Australian Taxation Office is focusing on work-clothing expenses this tax time.

Assistant Commissioner Kath Anderson said last year more than 6.3 million people made a work-related expense claim for clothing and laundry expenses, totalling almost $1.8billion.

“We have seen claims for clothing and laundry expenses increase about 20 per cent in the past five years,” she said.
