PIGGERY FIRE

Animals killed in blaze near Bute

A FIRE killed 28 pigs and caused more than $100,000 damage at a piggery near Bute on Sunday morning, February 25.

Police, CFS and SA ambulance crews were called to the blaze and saved most of the 460 sows and piglets, although some either perished in the fire or had to be put down.

Fire cause investigators have confirmed an electrical fault from an air-conditioner in the farrowing shed started the fire.
